Rock On Ruby Jumps Well

Rock On Ruby 14/1 with bet365 for the Arkle

Rock on Ruby has made a winning start over fences after scoring in the Winter Gala Novices Chase at Plumpton today at racing betting odds of 1/10 when he beat just two rivals.

Harry Fry's runner made just one minor mistake in an excellent round of jumping on Monday afternoon. It was at the fourth last that he got in a bit close but he was able to get over fine.

Lamb's Cross was an early casualty in the race so the former Champion Hurdle winner had just Lindsay's Dream for company for the rest of the duration in testing conditions at the East Sussex racecourse.

Ridden by Noel Fehily, they came home four lengths ahead of Zoe Davison's mount who was receiving a stone in the weights.

After a comprehensive defeat in his opening run of the season over hurdles last month, where he came up against the improving The New One from Nigel Twiston-Davies' yard, connections have decided the time is right for a chase career.

The Champion Hurdle division is proving to be strong this year with The New One, My Tent or Yours, Our Conor and defending champion Hurricane Fly all in line for a clash at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Rock on Ruby has been installed in the Arkle racing live betting market at 14/1 with Bet365. Champagne Fever has impressed the most so far of the novice chasers and he is 3/1 favourite, with Hinterland next best at 8/1.

Fry's stable star's next assignment could be in January at Doncaster in their Lightning Novices' Chase. He was also entered in a Graduation Chase at Exeter on Thursday but that was a backup plan in case Plumpton was off.
