Despite the recent decline in success over recent seasons, the Liverpool manager's job remains one of the biggest challenges in club football. Now, Brendan Rodgers must bring the glory days back to Anfield.
The Merseyside outfit announced, on Friday, that the Northern Irishman would be joining the club, having agreed a compensation package with his former employers, Swansea City.
There has been much discussion on Bet Victor about whether Rodgers is a big enough name to join a club like Liverpool, but who had heard of Pep Guardiola in a managerial role before he took the job at Barcelona?
So many have hailed the job Rodgers did at the Liberty Stadium, and the brand of football he brought to the Welsh side, in their first ever season in the Premier League.
Now the Irishman has the chance to take that style to still one of the biggest clubs in England, which should bring excitement to the loyal fans at Anfield.
Rodgers has accepted he has a big challenge before him, as he hopes to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal, next season.
He said: "This is a long-term plan that was important for me. It is going to be over a number of years. First and foremost, I want to defend the principals of this great club, which is about offensive, creative football, but with technical discipline, and to maintain the values of the club.
"It's been over 20 years since they won the title - they might not be ready for the title now, but the process begins today, and it's a new cycle. That's something we will work towards in the years to come."
